Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has signed a new deal with the club which ties him down until June 2015.
It is thought that this deal will help in increasing the value of the France international, who is in his sixth year with Montpellier.
"Montpellier are really pleased to announce the contract extension of captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa. The defender has chosen to extend his adventure with the club for two further years," said a statement published on the club's official website.
