Nicolas Anelka appears set for exit from Shanghai Shenhua after the club said talks over the cancellation of his contract were ongoing.
Former Chelsea striker Anelka, 33, joined the club in the January but has struggled to settle in the Chinese game, scoring only three goals since his move.
Didier Drogba his fellow ex-Stamford Bridge forward also joined him at Shanghai, who arrived in the summer and has been linked with a loan move to Juventus following the end of the Chinese season.
Shanghai confirmed that discussions about ending Anelka’s contract were in progress.
Ma Yue said,"The discussion is between the club and himself, I don't know about the specific details, but so far we haven't got the final result."
