Transfer Rumour: Manchester United is considering Chinese offer for Wayne Rooney

Manchester United is interested in selling Wayne Rooney to a Chinese Super League club in the summer.

United have received an offer from a Chinese club for their 30-year-old captain who is recently sidelined for six weeks struggling with a knee injury. The Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua has tabled £27m bid and offered a three-year deal worth £500,000-a-week for the England captain.

Though Rooney still has two years left on his current deal at Old Trafford yet the Chinese side is willing to spend big to make him the face of the Super League.

Last week United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward acknowledged the Chinese Super League could benefit United in the transfer market.

“So far, this is the biggest window in preparation for the next season, so I do think there’ll be more activity in the summer, but it’s very, very difficult to predict the impact that will have,” United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward  said in United Quarterly conference call.

“If nothing else, it (Chinese Super League)’s another useful market if we’re looking to sell any players,” he added.

In spite of a couple berating seasons at United, Rooney remains the most loveable player at the club because of his life span and accomplishment at Old Trafford, and with the England national side.
