Arsenal’s eye on Manchester United’s Michael Carrick

Michael Carrick

Arsene Wenger is keeping its tab open for Manchester United’s Michael Carrick for the fourth time after failing three times over 12 years.

The Manchester United Midfielder Carrick is set to be a free agent at the end of this season. And according to The Mirror, Arsene Wenger is ready to make a fourth attempt to sign Michael Carrick.

Wenger first tried to sign Carrick more than a decade ago, when he was at West Ham but saw him join north London rivals Spurs in 2004.

He again lost the race to sign Carrick two years later to United when the England international sign the contract with the Red Devils instead of Arsenal in 2006.

His third attempt was trashed down when Carrick signed a one-year extension to stay put in Manchester.

As Wenger remains a big fan of the player, he is convinced that there is remarkable potential still left in the player despite of  his age and is willing to try his luck again if Carrick leaves Old Trafford.

Signing Carrick is become all the more important for Wenger with Mathieu Flamini, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky all set to leave the club at the end of the season when their contracts expire. The Arsenal boss is looking for another experienced head to fill the dressing room with leadership and a winning mentality.
