Sterling turns down contract extension of Liverpool

Raheem Sterling is a Jamaican-born footballer who plays as a winger for Liverpool and the England national team. He is recently being offered a £100,000-a-week contract extension by Liverpool.

News posted by The Mirror claimed that the he has rejected the contract extension leading to speculation about biding his adieu from Anfield.

However, despite such rumours, Brendan Rodgers insists that Raheem Sterling will not be leaving Liverpool this summer.

When asked about Sterling's future Rodgers said: "My focus is purely on his football.

"That's my only concentration. I have said the intention of the player and the club was to put [talks] on hold.

"Raheem's ambition is to win trophies and that's perfectly aligned with what we're trying to do. This is one of the great clubs.

"I'm quite relaxed on it. It's part of the modern game. Raheem still has a lot of improvements to make. This is great place for him."
