UAE is all set to welcome the seventh edition of the IPL to its shores. IPL 2014 tournament will begin in United Arab Emirates on April 16, 2014. The desert nation was chosen as the venue for the first phase of 16 matches of the tournament that will be played mostly in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah till April 30, 2014. ICC Chief Executive, David Richardson felt it would give a big boost to the game in the Middle East and said, “The BCCI's decision to stage the first part of the IPL 2014 season in the UAE is great news for the people of the UAE and the region. It will complete a remarkable season of cricket in the UAE, which has already seen the successful staging of the T20 WC Qualifier 2013 and the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup 2014,".
