Liverpool turns down the offer made by Man City for Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling is an English professional footballer who plays as a winger for Premier League club Liverpool.

The 20-year-old joined Liverpool from QPR in 2010 and is under contract until 2017, but has rejected the offer of a new £100,000-a-week deal offered to him by Brendan Rodgers.

In the ongoing battle of spring transfer window Manchester City made their first move for Raheem Sterling on Thursday night after offering a bid for the Liverpool forward.

Manchester City has been chasing Sterling for months and tabled a bid of £25m with another £5m add-ons for the Liverpool forward.

Liverpool has rejected the offer and is understood to be holding out £50m for the England star. Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard said Sterling had the chance to become the club's "number one player" by staying at Anfield.

Sterling has two years of a £35,000 per week contract remaining and said that he would not negotiate a new contract until the end of the season.
